Last fall, my partner and I had the opportunity to spend two weeks at an artist retreat through Creekside Arts, a Humboldt County, California, arts nonprofit.
When not working on our respective writing projects, we explored the Redwood National and State Parks as part of some ongoing research I was doing centered around the redwoods.
Of all the parks we visited in the Redwood National and State Parks, the trees of Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park were by far the most impressive.

The trees were so large that it felt impossible to comprehend their size, at least visually, without a human somewhere for scale. So that is what we did.
Below is our photographic attempt to capture the size of the trees using the human body as a comparison.

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park (and all of the RNSP) was one of the most moving places either of us had ever visited. It truly is worth visiting in your lifetime, no matter where you live.
