I recently participated in two literary readings: Flipside Fest in September and the Death Rattle 9th Anniversary Showcase in November.
Flipside Fest is a music and art festival put on by the Duck Club in Garden City, Idaho as a way to harness the energy from the Treefort Music Festival that happens in Idaho every spring.
In both September and March, I participated in Storyfort, a literary festival, and one of the “forts” of the Treefort Music Festival here in Boise, ID. In this post, I share photos from five readings and panels.
Poetry & Mimosas | Storyfort 2022
I read at the Poetry & Mimosas event on March 27th at the Owyhee Hotel for Storyfort 2022. The other featured readers included Emily Pittinos, Amy Pence-Brown, Jonathan Warren, Rise Collins, Benjamin Schmitt, and Daphne Stanford.
Pacific Northwest Poets Showcase | Storyfort 2022
I read at the Pacific Northwest Poets Showcase on March 26th at Guru Donuts for Storyfort 2022. The other featured readers included Benjamin Schmitt and Daphne Stanford.
This July, I read poems from a project about COVID-19 and the Second Plague Pandemic (1347-1700) in the Bloom Reading Series for Storyfort at the Idaho Botanical Garden.
The project, which tells the stories of impacted individuals through primary and secondary sources, is funded by a grant from the COVID Cultural Commissioning Fund.
It featured nine local poets (Catherine Kyle, Rachel Murphy, Amanda Rich, Hannah Rodabaugh, Ruth Salter, Daphne Stanford, Elena Tomorowitz, and Tessy Ward) and Rena Ashton (educational director of Zoo Boise). They read poetry and essays about nature and conservation.
